I am moving to Stockholm, Sweden.

I have some big news! I will this autumn leave Austria behind and move to Stockholm! I am grateful for all the experience I have had in Austria. It has been a very rough but rewarding time. I will miss the beautiful mountains, the cheap food and drinks and all the adorable cows that greet me in the mornings. But I am very much looking forward to to live in a city and to breath the sea air! I will stay in the same company so I will be able to come to Austria for meetings etc. so I hope I will at those evenings have some spare time to meet my friends, that I have gotten here.

Fra and I were in Austria this weekend, as so many things happened. There was a fashion show on the market square and clubbing at the museum of nature (yes, we danced under a stuffed moose and a buffalo). The highlight of the weekend was the hiking trip we did on Sunday though. We walked up to Körbersee and ate lunch there at a hotel in 1700 meters height. The path up to the small lake was very easy to walk on (so a perfect trip after a night of clubbing) but really really beautiful. Cows were up there eating grass and walking free among us and we also saw some marmots!! :)

Corsica- The trip back

The last trip we did in Corsica before returning home was like this:
And where we drove looked like this:

Tie Milanoon käy edullisten aperitiivojen kautta :)

Viime perjantaina ajoimme Milanoon mutta tällä kertaa emme menneet suorinta moottoritietä vaan ajelimme kaikkia pieniä vuoristoteitä pitkin Madesimon, Chiavennan ja Leccon kautta. Olipas kaunista!

Ja arvatkaapas mitä me siitä maksettiin? 6 euroa! Kannattaisi varmaan useammin pysähtyä Chiavennassa suolapalalla matkan varrella :)

Sculpted limestone

In the Southest part of Corsica, close to Bonifacio, there ist his place… or it’s more like the whole coast. It is made of limestone and sculpted into al kinds of cool shapes. We went on a small trip there, walked down to the sea and I have to say, with that much limestone- it felt like we would have walked on the moon :) It was all so white and weird.

Fra jumped a few times in the ocean while the rest of us looked over the sea on Sardinia.

Corsica- The coolest evening of my life

I didn’t know that around the 10th of August it is possible to see a lot of falling stars… but on our trip in Corsica Fra remembered this while we were planning where to eat dinner, which led to a dinner out in the open, watching the stars.

Wait. Lets start from the beginning.

…Giovanni and Sonia started to feel that they had gotten a bit too much sun and they decided to make a motorbike trip to the mountains for the afternoon. Fra and I wanted still to swim and sun bath so we stayed by the sea. I started to read the LonelyPlanet Corsica-guide and suddenly it hit me! Wine! We just had to go to a vineyard to buy wine! (Not that I am in the need of alcoholic beverages every time I read a book, just because it sounded so great, to buy wine from a vineyard!) Fra- loyal to my drinking needs (eh?)- said of course, great idea and there we went. To this cute house up on a mountain with hectares of grapes growing. And it was just so cool! To buy wine from a vineyard in French! :) :)

So when we met Sonia and Giovanni we told them that we had to eat out this evening, as we had wine to drink. They had been having the same thoughts, while they were motorbiking around!  And that was the point when Fra remembered the stars. So we all went to the grocery store and bought 3 different liver patès (I don’t want to sound snobbish, but shouldn’t champagne and foie gras be like a everyday meal or something? Its soo good!), different goat cheeses, baguette, meat, figues, grapes, figue marmalade (figue marmalade on goat cheese, try it!)…oh, and all kinds of delicacies. I have to stop otherwise I get hungry.

Then we drove to a light house in Bonifacio, from where we could see the sun set and the old town of Bonifacio and all the way to Sardinia. We decided to eat on the ruins of an old fort. We ate, laughed and admired the surroundings.

When the darkness finally came (well, the moonlight was so bright that it wasn’t really dark) we all lied down next to each other and watched the stars. We could see a lot of meteors passing the Earth and 6 falling stars , s-i-x!!! Naturally we all made wishes and didn’t tell anyone what we wished for- in this way they could become true.

I once saw a falling star as a kid and I wished for this toy that I got that Christmas, so of course it becomes true. But that’s another story.

While I was lying there, watching the stars, I was thinking that in that moment I was truly, honestly happy and extremely lucky and that my life seems to be freaking amazing.

Corsica- The beaches

The beaches are spectacular in Corsica. We visited both the touristic ones as well as the “natural”, “unknown” ones. All of them were great. White sand, turquoise warm water, corals… everything. I spent hours and hours swimming, peeling my skin with the sand and sun bathing. The boys enjoyed to jump from different stones into the sea and we girls gossiped and read magazines and books. On some days we changed the beach after lunch and some days we spent the whole day from early morning to late evening on the beach. The different lagoons of Corsica were also visited by boats from all around Europe.

U Benedettu

Palombaggia (a nudist beach)

Santa Giulia (a bit more touristic beach)

Roccapina

What seems weird? The cow? Oh no, animals walk freely in Corsica! Rondinara beach.

Me :)

One thing to watch out for in Corsica is not to swim on the area where the airplanes gather water to throw on the dry vegetation. I heard a story that they once gathered a diver...

On U Benedettu the rocks have formed the beach so that everyone can get a small minibeach :)

Fra :)

On the more touristic places we could find something to eat, on the other beaches it was empty...

Tonnara beach and a kitesurfer enjoying the wind...
