Corsica- Driving Through the Island

After two nights in the north part of the island we drove to the south. We had to change our route in the middle though, as the road by the high mountains was in too bad condition to drive on.

The road between Aijacco and Bonifacio was really really beutiful.

The roads in Corsica are pretty much in good condition

Corsica- The North

Giovanni and Sonia on their bike in the early morning on the Italian highway

We (Giovanni and Sonia on one motorbike and Fra and I on another) left Milan early on Saturday morning and drove to Vado Ligure close to Savona from where we took the ship to Bastia. We spent the time on board playing cards and watching the map of Corsica and reading the LonelyPlanet book while planning the trip together. I also made very barbie-like nails for the trip :)

That view of the mountains after mountains in a blue shade was so amazing!
Somewhere in the desert...

From Bastia we drove to Saint-Florent to see the city but continued through the desert to L'île-Rousse. We saw so amazing views with mountains after mountains in blue shades. Some cars were stopped by the roads to sell goat cheese.

Our tent neighbor :)

We found a good camping area, put up our tents and went to enjoy the evening and the night in the centre. We ate delicious fish meals and slept well in the camping area.

The next day we spent on the beaches around L'île-Rousse and admired the amazing view of mountains after mountains, turquoise water and really cute restaurants with delicious food.

I spotted these cuties outside the bakery where we had breakfast :)

I was also happy that my French skills returned to my brain and I was able to communicate with the people :)

Once we bought a baguette and foie gras from the supermarket and drove to a nice place in the shadow to have a picnic. Then I also felt very french, sitting in a white summer skirt on a motorbike with a baguette in my hand :) :)

Back from Paradise

The trip to Corsica was amazing. The whole island is just so incredibly beautiful. I cannot still believe that all the things I saw was reality and not just a dream. The only thing that I am sad about is that I had a small, old pocket camera with me (due to the fact, that a bigger one wouldn't fit into this whole let's-be-nature kids-and-not-pack-anything-with-us- style of travelling). But I will put the pics on my coputer, go through them and tell you as much as I can :) But the nature and the sea and the mountains, gosh, a-ma-zing! And no turistic bullshit. Just real life. Soooo Great. Oh, and we run into Heidi Klum, Seal and the kids as well :) They happened to be walking outside the yacht they are travelling with this summer.

On vacation

Underbart :)

I am soooo excited !!!!!!! Sonia, Giovanni, Fra and I are going on a motorbike trip on Saturday. Not just any trip but to Corsica for a week-long vacation. We have packed with us two tents, 4 towels and some bathing suits. We will just swim as much as possible, eat sellfish and drive around the island. Ah, amazing :)

For months now I have been wanting to buy a new espresso maker. My old one has been destroyed of frequent use, but it was not even that good to begin with. Good ones cost around 100 euro and that is why I have been slowly exploring the market instead of just grabbing one. I use it at least twice a day and that is why I want it to please my eye, to be easy to use and also to make great coffee.

A while back at Cargo & Hightech I saw an espresso maker called Giannina. I fell in love with it. I couldn't stop thinking about it. And now it is mine :) It is of stainless steal, weights tons and has no screwing mechanism, which I think is the best thing about it. So no coffee can get stuck between the screw threads which also makes it faster to be cleaned. The funnel-shaped filter that many other brands have in their espresso makers can usually be taken apart for washing. This irritates me as coffee often gets stuck there so it should be cleaned often... and in many models it is quite hard to get the parts apart!

... but the Giannina does not have this :) The funnel-shaped filter is already in 2 parts, which makes it easy to keep clean and the maker itself without scratches etc of trying to loose up the bottom.

The Giannina also has a 10 year guarantee. Have I praised it enough now? :) Here is my new love:

Friday Night

On Friday I went to Italy. This time I didn't have to drive alone though because Ania joined me :) She is travelling in Europe and starting from Milan so it suited perfectly to drive down together. We had a lot of fun!! Ania entertained me with stories  and while I was driving she was still sewing some adjustments to her bikini top.

We stopped in Campagnola for a short pause. It's my favourite place to stop because then 2 hours of the trip has passed, 1 is left and the place is situated in a cute valley between really high mountains !!

We arrived in Milan and parked the car close to the house, where I used to live. I thought it would be a safer place than where I usually park- namely because Fra has been robbed 3 times in the last 6 months there (and he does not leave ANYTHING in the car EVER and anyway he all the time gets robbed. The good thing is that there is nothing to take and the bad thing is that he has to often change his locks when they are destroyed...) and took the metro in to town.

Ania was so surprised to get out of the metro in the middle of the centre of Milan, where you could hear Italian, you could see people eating ice cream, some carabinieri passing us in their costumes (looks like police officers, carabinieri is actually a military force charged with police duties) and of course Duomo, the Dom of Milan.

Then we walked on the best shopping street of Milan, Via Torino and popped into shops to try on shoes and summer dresses and we walked all the way to Navigli, where I took Ania for an aperitivo.

Fra joined us and we changed places to Al Coccio. Luca, Mica, Ilaria, Giacomo, Giulia and Marco also joined us. As well as Ania's friends Fabrizio and Luca.

Mammas lekstuga

My mother loves herbs, gardens, garden plots and anything you can eat and grow by yourself. I adore my mother, I would love to have a kitchen like in interior magazines. You know the ones from the French country side with the kitchen filled with herbs? Anyway, now my mum has a whole house for her gardening things and in the other end of the house there is the glasshouse for herbs and tomatoes. It is so cute that I just had to photograph it :)
