Wining and Dining

To eat in Barcelona is equally great as in Italy, just a bit different. Fra's cousin, who used to live in Barcelona, had made a long list for us of great restaurants where to eat and we picked the ones near to us. The most amazing was called La Paradeta, which is a chain of 3 restaurants around Barcelona. In La Paradeta you enter the place, choose what you want to eat of the big variety of fresh shellfish, tell your choices and also how you want them made to the girl who packs them into paper, puts them into a box and takes them to the kitchen with your number on it. You pay, buy drinks and go to sit. Then the chefs prepare your food and yell your number and you go to pick up what you have ordered :) Fra and I had the table full of everything and we paid (for us both) together 30 euro. I liked the business idea a lot :)
One other thing that is very common for Spain is Tapas. The original idea of Tapas is that you go in the afternoon to a bar, order a drink and they bring you something small to eat with the drink. When you order the next drink you get a new dish with it....and again with the third drink something new again. The food also gets bigger and better. For example, you may get peanuts with the first drink and a whole pizza with the 9th.... Nowadays Tapas has anyway become so famous so you can also go to a Tapas place and just order different things and pay for them instead of drinking all the drinks :) Then you get small plates with something :)
This is by the way very different from my home country. I have been used to eat one meal at a time and the meal consisting of salad, potatoes/rice/pasta and meat/fish in a well balanced way and that' s it. I have anyway started to eat differently in the past years and I love it that the table is filled with small plates of different things and you can choose what you like in that moment. One taste at a time and as Italians say, dolce far niente :) (directly translated into "a bit of sweet doesn't do any harm" but actually has a deeper meaning, that you don't have to earn everything, you may enjoy anyway, because it does not do anyone any harm if you enjoy your life to a full extent. I love this saying.)
Ps. At my next party I will sooooo certainly make a lot of sangria, now when I have learned the magic ;)

Rosa and Carlotta: yup, its yummies :):)

Pyppe: Jag maste säkert testa mig lite fram, men jag tror det blir bäst med torrt röd vin, en bra balans av lite socker och lite mer appelsin och citron och en liten klick gin :)
